As a writer and artist, I simply had to share this movie. I stumbled upon this film a few years ago and it is really one of my all-time favorites. It’s one of my go-to films when I am having a bad day and feeling creatively stuck or when I feel like I’m in a rut in my life. There is something about this film – Purple Violets – that I truly love. I honestly can’t explain it.

Maybe it’s the setting: New York City. Or maybe it’s the amazing cast: Edward Burns, Debra Messing, Selma Blair, and Patrick Wilson. Or maybe it’s the soundtrack which is hauntingly soulful and moving. Or maybe it’s the simplicity, beauty, and authenticity of the story of a woman struggling with her writing ambitions, past, career, and romantic relationships that makes me relate to it so.

Whatever it is, it struck a chord with me and I cannot think about watching a movie from my DVD collection without gravitating to this one first.

So, here’s the trailer. If you rent (or buy) Purple Violets, I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I did, and do.

Have you heard of the movie “Fireproof?” I have but every time I went to rent it from Netflix there was a long wait, or a very long wait. I wanted to see this movie way before I got married because I heard it was such a good movie and so uplifting. And once I did get married, I really wanted to see what the hype was all about and if it truly lived up to its amazing reviews.

To my surprise, my hubby bought me the DVD for Christmas. I was so happy because this movie has been languishing in my Netflix queue forever. So yesterday after dinner, we decided to pop the movie in for a little after-dinner relaxation. My thoughts? I loved the film! Fireproof gave me  such warm fuzzy feelings, and made me laugh, cry, and think about my own marriage. I’m not going to give the movie away with a bunch of spoilers (I hate when bloggers do that!), but after the movie was over I flipped through the DVD extras to check out the marriage tools. There are so many good ones and my hubby & I may even try one or two of them.

I honestly can’t say anything else without ruining it for you, so I will just highly recommend Fireproof for engaged ladies, married women, and even for the single gals who want to learn what it takes to have a good marriage and really find out what unconditional love is about. Enjoy!
