One of my absolute favorite things to do is to tour a winery; and after moving to Virginia from California last December I couldn’t wait to visit the “Napa Valley of the East.” So when I was invited by new friends a couple of weeks ago to join them on a wine tasting tour and picnic at Barboursville Vineyard, there was no way I was going to decline.
I had such a great time tasting all of their sensational wines — even the self-professed non-drinkers couldn’t resist tasting and purchasing bottles. And after a 30-minute tour which had us all laughing along with their hilarious tour guide, we headed outside to the patio deck to enjoy a vegetarian/vegan picnic and we even had time to take a short stroll along the property to peek at the inn, cottages, and suites.
The whole day was simply wonderful and I would really love to go back to the winery. The next time I visit, I’ll go with my hubby and we might even make it a weekend affair and stay at one of Barboursville’s lovely cottages or suites.
